What is Transdroid?

Transdroid is an application for Android devices that allows you to connect to and interact with your torrent clients, such as rTorrent and Deluge. It allows you to monitor your downloads and uploads, as well as add new torrents and pause/resume existing ones. With a Data connection, you can control your downloads anywhere and at any time, since your seedbox is always on and is always accessible.

As for Transdroid itself, it's a very full-featured application, with a lot of a settings. This tutorial aims to walk users through the steps of installing the Transdroid app and connecting it to your Deluge or rTorrent clients to be able to get even more mileage out of your Seedbox server.

Below are the steps to setup Transdroid:

  1. Download the latest version of Transdroid directly from their website.Transdroid app using your mobile web browser.
    If you downloaded the .apk on your PC, you will need to transfer it to your device - you can do this by coping it over USB.
  2. On your Android device, enter the Security settings and ensure that apps can be installed from Unknown Sources. This is necessary because the Transdroid app cannot be found in the Google Play store due to Google's terms of service. However the app is very safe to use from our tests and you can go ahead and download the app and install it on your Android device.
  3. Open the .apk file that you copied or downloaded earlier. Review the permissions needed and click Next.
  4. Complete the installation.
  5. When prompted, open the newly installed Transdroid app.
  6. Within the Transdroid app, select "Settings" in the upper right. For those using a phone, this option might be hidden in the menu, and can be found by clicking the 3 vertical dots in the same location.
  7. Select the "Add new server" option.
  8. Select the "Normal, custom server" option.
  9. You will be greeted with a blank configuration. There are many options which we must configure here. We will now be filling them in one by one.
  10. Give your server a name by which you will easily be able to identify it.
  11. After giving your server a name, select the next option in the list, "Server type".
  12. You will be presented by a list of different compatible torrent clients. Scroll down and select rTorrent.
  13. Next, select the "IP or Hostname" option. You need to enter information of the following form: servername.seedbox.ch.
  14. Next, select the username option and enter your username.
  15. Next, select the password option and enter the password for your ruTorrent client.
  16. Next, skip ahead to the "Advanced settings" option. We need to make one change here in order to connect to your server.
  17. Select the "SCGI mount point" option.
  18. Enter the information as shown above. Exactly as follows: /rutorrent/plugins/httprpc/action.php
  19. Back in the advanced settings: Check the box 'Use SSL'
  20. Further down check the box 'Accept all SSL certificates'

You now have completed the setup should now be able to exist the settings menu and with a tap of the refresh button(Green button), you will be able to access and interact with your seedbox server.
